Two Hawaii organizations are finalists in national challenge

A little paint, a lot of helping hands, and one BIG step closer to home.

On August 8, Hale Koko was buzzing with activity as community partners and volunteers came together for a Paint Party to help prepare RYSE’s newest housing property for young adults and young families aging out of foster care.

At RYSE, we know that ending homelessness requires more than a roof overhead, it requires community. That’s why we’re so grateful for partners like Bluewater Mission, a nondenominational church in Honolulu whose commitment to walking alongside young people continues to make a lasting impact.

This summer, community members, volunteers, and supporters rolled up their sleeves for a workday at Hale Koko, RYSE’s newest housing initiative for youth transitioning through and aging out of Hawaiʻi’s foster care system. From painting and cleaning to organizing and yard work, every project helped move the property one step closer to becoming a safe and welcoming home for young people navigating housing instability.
