Super Heroes of RYSE · This November
Every Young Person Deserves a Hero. Be One.
November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month – an opportunity to shine a light on youth homelessness and the people working to make a difference.
At RYSE, we believe every young person deserves a safe place to call home, someone who believes in them and the opportunity to build a future of their own.
Throughout November, we’re celebrating the Super Heroes of RYSE — the young people, staff, volunteers, donors, businesses and community partners who show up in extraordinary ways, often through everyday acts of kindness and support.
For Youth Homelessness Awareness Month, stand with Oʻahu’s young people. Your support helps them find safety, connection and a path beyond homelessness.
Youth Homelessness Is Happening Here
On one night in January 2026, 1,005 children and young adults under 25 were experiencing homelessness on Oʻahu. A single-night count tells only part of the story: many young people face housing instability that remains unseen.
Youth homelessness isn’t always visible. Some young people move between friends’ homes, stay in unstable living situations or have no safe place to return to. These experiences may not be fully reflected in a single-night count.
For young people, housing instability can disrupt education, employment, physical and mental health, and the relationships they rely on for support.

Our November Fundraising Goal: $100,000
Every gift helps RYSE provide housing, outreach, behavioral health care, education and employment support, and the everyday essentials young people need to move toward greater stability and independence.

Becoming the Person She Once Needed
Hazel first joined RYSE as a practicum student and quickly discovered her passion for supporting young people experiencing homelessness. Drawing from her own life experiences, she understands the importance of patience, compassion and second chances. Today, she helps young people navigate challenges, recognize their strengths and believe in a better future. Her greatest motivation is becoming the person she needed when she was younger.
