Annual Program Evaluation Report 2021

We are pleased to release our 2021 Annual Program Evaluation Report, produced by the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Department of Psychology, Ecological Determinants Lab. The past year marks our fourth year of serving houseless and opportunity youth, and is highlighted by some amazing achievements. In 2021, we:

-Sheltered 145 youth and provided over 7400 nights of safe sleep

-Completed 198 VI-SPDAT assessments to help connect youth with appropriate housing and services support

-Spent 276 days conducting outreach in our Oahu communities

-Helped transition 65% of shelter residents into stable housing

At RYSE, we know that ending homelessness requires more than a roof overhead, it requires community. That’s why we’re so grateful for partners like Bluewater Mission, a nondenominational church in Honolulu whose commitment to walking alongside young people continues to make a lasting impact.

This summer, community members, volunteers, and supporters rolled up their sleeves for a workday at Hale Koko, RYSE’s newest housing initiative for youth transitioning through and aging out of Hawaiʻi’s foster care system. From painting and cleaning to organizing and yard work, every project helped move the property one step closer to becoming a safe and welcoming home for young people navigating housing instability.

Did you hear the news… We’re proud to share that Residential Youth Services & Empowerment (RYSE) has officially closed on a new property in Honolulu, marking a significant step forward in our mission to end youth homelessness on Oʻahu.
